SBBCS009 S.T. Lore with Mark Groves The Five Surfaces
Inspired by Polanski's take on The Tenant, The Five Surfaces is a collaboration between S.T. Lore (text/voice) and Mark Groves (sound/voice). Generated for State of Decay, a 2011 exhibition curated by Helen Hughes and Harriet Morgan. Edition of 25 Released: December 2011
Live at KIPL documents a live performance recorded 29 January 2011 in a hard surface/high ceiling space in West Melbourne. Nomex is the pseudonym of current New Zealand resident Paul Kidd, under which he has been performing and releasing audio and video works for many years. This invigorating aktion was centered on a tightly controlled exploration of acoustic feedback utilising contact microphone, amplifier and loudspeakers. Composed of resonant frequencies, room acoustics, and directional pick-up/emission patterns, this work is assuredly ecstatic, virulent and glorious. Mastered for cassette by Marcus Cook at the Shogun Lodge, and released in an edition of 50 to coincide with Nomex’s performance at the 2011 Melbourne edition of the International Noise Conference hosted by Sabbatical. Edition of 50 Released: May 2011
SBBCS007 Dick Threats Meat Cash
Meat Cash is built from a series of quick cut movements, each hinged on overdriven and abused rhythms. Pounding industrial noise filth and simple analogue electronics colour movement throughout, though often these gestures are pushed into a sweaty alliance with an ecstatic pulse seeking physical interpretation. The Dick Threats modus operandi: low fidelity dance noise - another beer bong for Daphne Oram please. Edition of 100 Released: April 2011
SBBCS006 Default Jamerson 'Recuerdos De 3232'
Recuerdos de 3232: a short run double A side cassette of 2008 material from Marcus Cook's Default Jamerson project. This release bookends the considered processes Marcus was employing during 2007-08, seen often in the live setting during this period. Edition of 50 Released: November 2010
SBBCS005 Cured Pink 'Self-titled'
Cured Pink is a discomposed mess of underdeveloped ideas, glorifying civil sickness before finding anything that actually sounds good. Self-releasing hand-made material out of Brisbane for the last few years, the mess, usually summed as ''psychotic performance art'', ''post-industrial noise bliss'' or ''bored at 3am'', appears to have its strengths in the alienation of pub owners, the forcing of early closures and alienation of most band members. Maybe it is just irritating. Sabbatical presents the first release by this constantly evolving Brisbane based project overseen by Andrew McLellan. Edition of 100 Released: June 2010
